The Shivapuri National Park, one of the major water resources of Kathmandu, is also the residence of numerous species of flora and wildlife, making it a haven for anyone who enjoys watching birds. The trapper is excited to travel to the Langtang Himalayan range since it is visible from here. If the weather is exceptionally clear, the Himalayas like Ganesh Himal, Langtang-Lirung, Dorji Lhakpa, and many other countless peaks are well seen from here. Due to the gradient of the journey and the numerous stairs that must be climbed to reach the summit of Shivpuri, it turns out to be a difficult walk.

Budhanilkantha Temple, the Shivapuri National Park’s Conservation Areas, villages, the Nagi Gumba along the way, and Tarebhir are all included in the hike from Budhanilkantha to Sundarijal. The path is ideal for bird watching and photographing Kathmandu from its four main surrounding hills. The 18-kilometer hike requires about 8-9 hours of time management.

Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (159 sq km) is located 12 km off the main city’s central on the northernmost point of the Kathmandu Valley. In 2002, the region was designated as the eighth national conservation area in this country. It was governed by the Shivapuri Watershed Development Board before being designated as an official national park, and it later became the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. One of several major sources of drinking water throughout the Kathmandu Valley is Shivapuri. A total of 30 million liters of water are taken directly from minor rivers and streams daily, including the Bagmati and the Bishnumati.

Best Season for Shivpuri National Park Hike

Shivapuri has become one of the most well-liked and productive one-day hiking locations in the Kathmandu Valley. Make sure to pick this hiking if you have an additional day in Kathmandu and are eager to go on an outdoor stroll. There is no specific season or month for the hike planning in Shivapuri. We can go hiking in the rain or during the winter if the weather is clear. So, if you are familiar with enjoying playing with the snow, planning your trip for the winter is also an ideal one. Of course, autumn and spring seasons are preferred to the cold and rainy ones for the best views and blooms.

However, according to the overall Kathmandu timing for a hike, we recommend choosing for the spring season due to the Himalayan ranges and hillside exposure due to clear sky and greenery forest conditions.
